Hugh Rhame Grenade

Dr. Hugh Rhame Grenade KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Dr. Hugh Rhame Grenade, age 72, of Knoxville, TN passed away Friday, July 13, 2012. Hugh regularly attended West Park Baptist Church. Dr. Granade was a professor of Economics at the University of Tennessee for 18 years. He later retired from TVA where he worked as the Chief Economics Director. He earned his undergraduate degree at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and his PhD at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Hugh was an avid golfer, and was very active in Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. "Gade" and Lenora Granade. Hugh is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Granade; children and spouses, Hugh and Kristin Granade of New Jersey, Grant Granade of North Carolina, Leigh and Joe Gleason of Knoxville; step-sons, Bryan (Rena) Hayes of Texas, Matthew Hayes of Knoxville and Randy (Tami) Hayes of Maryville; 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; special niece, Michele Price and husband Jason of Walland. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at West Park Baptist Church, 8833 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jared Raby officiating. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
