When I first heard that Mr. Stevens had passed away, all I think was "The world just got a lot less cool." And then I just started crying in the middle of class.
Mr. Stevens was not just an incredible teacher, he was an amazing human being and I'm so proud to be able to say that I got to spend 90 minutes in a room with him every day for a year. He was one of those amazing teachers who actually talked with his students, tried to help them in whatever way he could. He didn't have to say that he cared; you just knew that he did.
I don't know a single person at Swansea High School who knew him who wasn't upset when they heard. He was incredible and we will all miss him.

I worked at Airport High when Robbie was a math teacher there and thought of Robbie as a friend of mine and those he worked with there and at BC High. I also knew his parents as they often came back to St.Mark Church to visit with their friends there. They were long time members but moved to the Batesville area which was not so close to the church. I know that Robbie will be missed by so many people because he did have lots of friends and was a very caring person. I am glad I knew him. Shirley Ford

Dear Mr. Stevens,
You're an amazing person and teacher. You were the one that convinced me Carolina was so much better then Clemson. You left so much with your students and you will always be in my heart. You will be missed by so many, and I'm so blessed to have had you in my life as a teacher and mentor. Your Family who will grow and remember you for what great imprint you left on them and this earth, and I know God will bless them more, just as the day he put you on this earth.
Mr. Stevens was My Math teacher for 2 years, and friend for many more.

I met Robert about 20 years ago at the portland swap meet through mutual friends. Over the years we became friends because our common love of all things cars. he always seemed to spot that part you were lookig for or see that car you missed even though you had walked by it a dozen times. The first weekend in april will never be the same. Robert was also very proud of his work at Liberty Metal Fab. and any project he was working on for himself or someone else. Goodbye old friend.
My condolences to his family and friends.
