Peter Holbrook Obituary

Peter David Holbrook
March 27, 1946 - February 10, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Uncle Pete who left us on February 10th surrounded by close family at the age of 78. Uncle Pete, as he was called by many, touched the lives of people around the world and made friendships wherever he went.

Born on March 27, 1946 in Attleboro, MA, Peter lived a life full of love, laughter and adventure. He was a beloved son of the late Ralph and Patricia (Barrett) Holbrook, brother of the late Judith (Holbrook) Lincoln, brother of Michael Holbrook and his wife Susan and brother to Marjorie Louise Holbrook who passed away as an infant. Peter was the beloved uncle of Steven Lincoln (Robin), Robin Oatman (David), Kathleen Peters (Gregory), Thomas Lincoln (Edlyn), Richard Lincoln (Jose), Kerry Latour (Richard), Brierly Holbrook, and Patrick Holbrook (Rebecca). Peter also leaves his beloved Sylvia Lebow and her daughters, many great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Peter was raised in Norton MA and graduated from Norton High School in 1964. He served in the Vietnam War. When he returned from Vietnam he followed his mentor and former Norton High teacher, Bob Blasser, to Los Angeles where he would live the rest of his life. In Peter's early days in LA he worked as a page at ABC-TV and was the personal driver for Lee Grant. Peter found his passion however when he decided to go to college for a degree in English Education. Peter was an English teacher for 30 years and his testament is paramount in all of the messages received from former students and fellow teachers praising the passion and impact that he had on their lives. After retiring, Peter threw a party for himself at the Malibu Inn where family and friends gathered for an epic celebration. Peter loved a good party!

Peter loved spending time with family and friends. He often traveled around the country, teardrop camper in tow, to visit his family in MA, GA, IL,NH and northern CA. Along the way he would visit friends he had it seems in every state. He loved planning these trips sometimes lasting months at a time. He also loved traveling the world, often visiting friends in Ireland, Brussels and Amsterdam.

Peter was a poet and comprised many of them in a 102 page notebook. He also loved to write songs about life, love and random experiences. One song he often laughed about was "What Shall We Do When Alexa Comes To Town?", a song he wrote when his great niece Alexa moved to California when she was 5 years old.

A celebration of Peter's life will be held at a later date both in Massachusetts and California. Burial will be private.

My condolences to Peter's family and friends. Peter and I were in basic training at Ft. Hood. Tx. Their were a bunch of us from the Attleboro area. We were later transferred to the 11th Cavalry Regt. and shipped out to Vietnam Aug.66. If I remember correctly Peter was a Tank driver. Thanks for your service Peter and rest in peace.
