Forrest Fowler Obituary

With heartfelt sadness and deep respect, we share the passing of Forrest "Jack" Fowler, who left us on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Jack was born on December 12, 1928, to the late Forrest and Brenda Fowler. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and later attended Morningside College, where he began to shape the life that would bring him much fulfillment and joy.

A proud veteran, Jack served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean Conflict, an experience that shaped his character and his appreciation for service to others.

In 1951, Jack met the love of his life, Barbie, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They married on March 24 of that year and built a beautiful life together, raising four children: Steve, Cynthia, John, and Scott. Their love story was a testament to devotion and partnership.

Jack's passion for music led him to a career as a violinist and music teacher in the Marshalltown school system, where he touched the lives of countless students over 25 years. After retiring, Jack and Barbie moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas, in 1976, where Jack began a second chapter as a fish guide and continued to share his knowledge by working as a substitute teacher at the local high school.

Jack is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Cynthia (Jay) Bader, and his cherished grandchildren:

William (Kate) Peter

Stephanie (Dave) O'Callaghan

Shauna Fowler/Klein

John (Avery) Fowler Jr.

He was also a proud great-grandfather to:

John Forrest Peter

Carson Margaret Peter

Ava Leigh O'Callaghan

Owen Peter O'Callaghan

Trevor Dean Klein

Beckett Dean Fowler

Paizley Marie Fowler

Jack is now at rest alongside Barbie at the Renew Church Columbarium in Heber Springs, Arkansas, where they will be forever together.

His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him – his family, his friends, and his students. Jack's kindness, dedication, and love for life will never be forgotten.

We lived next door to Jack and Barbie when I was in grade school in the 1970s in Marshalltown. Jack very patiently tried to each me how to play violin -- I was terrible! He and Barbie also took my sister and I fishing and I remember Barbie frying up the blue gill we caught then we "camped out" at their house and watched movies over bowls of popcorn! They were truly wonderful people! Heartfelt condolences to Cindy and the family.
