Markee Holbert Obituary
Miss Markee Blair Holbert
August 27, 1993 - August 5, 2025
Miss Markee Blair Holbert, 31, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away on August 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 27, 1993, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Markee lived a life marked by resilience, service, and joy.
A proud 2011 graduate of North High School, Markee pursued her passion for helping others by earning a degree in Criminal Justice from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in 2017. Her dedication to emergency services led her to obtain her EMT certification at the same institution and later advance her training by earning her AEMT certification from Midlands Technical College.
For nearly six years, Markee served with distinction as a member of Aiken County EMS. Her commitment to her work and the people she served was evident in every shift she worked. Beyond her professional duties, she also spent the last decade assisting her uncle Mike and her father with Mike's Airbrush and Mike's Fireworks as a skilled pyrotechnician-an endeavor that combined technical expertise with creativity and excitement.
Markee's zest for life extended far beyond her career. She was an avid fan of college football and especially loved cheering on the USC Gamecocks. Her beloved Jeep, affectionately named "Blue Mako," was a symbol of her adventurous spirit. Music of all genres filled her days and reflected the vibrant energy she brought into every room. One of the highlights of her life came on July 13, 2025, when she fulfilled a lifelong dream by catching a shark-a moment that captured both her determination and love for nature.
Animals held a special place in Markee's heart, particularly her cherished fur baby, Bailey. Her compassion for all living things was just one facet of the warmth she shared with those around her.
Markee faced significant health challenges with unwavering strength. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in September 2017, she triumphed over it once before facing its return in 2018. After five years in remission, she received news in June 2025 that the cancer had returned. Despite this difficult journey, she continued to embrace life fully and courageously until the end.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Mark and Tacy Holbert; brother, Jonathan Holbert (Jimmy); maternal grandmother, Linda Worrell; paternal grandmother, Sharon Houck; paternal grandfather, Jim Holbert (Wanda); uncles and aunts Mike and Pam Holbert; Tiffany Worrell; Katie Worrell; Mills and Judy Goodlett; along with numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who were touched by her vibrant spirit.
