Carl Richard Lueker
Jerseyville - Carl Richard "Dick" Lueker, 85, of Jerseyville, passed away at 2:45 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2025 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 30, 1940 in Nashville, Illinois, to the late George Walter and Elsie Marie (Hayden) Lueker. He grew up in Otterville and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Jersey Community High School. Soon after, he enlisted with the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and pride. Following his service, he began his career at Owens-Illinois Glass Works, later accepting employment with Amoco Oil in 1979. He worked there as an Electrician until his retirement in 1995. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he married the former Joyce Wells, and together they built a life rooted in love and family. They were blessed with three children and later with the joy of watching their family grow through the addition of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a quiet strength and a kind heart, and he lived his life in a way that reflected the values he held dear: hard work, faithfulness, and loyalty. He enjoyed simple pleasures like tending to his garden, bowling, and sharing morning coffee with friends. A true sports fan at heart, He was a die-hard supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and followed the Illinois Fighting Illini football and basketball teams faithfully throughout his life. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Lueker of Jerseyville; his children, Denise and Steve Hayes of Jerseyville, Jackie Lueker of Jerseyville, and Mike Lueker of Alton; his beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Brent) Sprong of Carrollton, Breanna Cordes of Jerseyville, and Bradley Cordes of Jerseyville; three great-grandchildren who brought light to his later years, Easton Gaffney, Harper Sprong, and Bodhi Sprong; a sister, Alice Province of Granite City; and a brother, Donald Lueker of Otterville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Charles "Chuck," and George Lueker; as well as a sister, Laura Bopp. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492 conducting full military honors. The family takes comfort in knowing that Dick's legacy will live on in the countless memories he created with those he loved.
