James E. Scobell
Alton - James E. Scobell, 77, of Alton died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 5:44 a.m. at Autumn Meadows of Cahokia.
James was born July 6, 1945 in Hillsboro IL to James Miram Scobell and Mary (Davis) Scobell; both have preceded him in death, along with a son Eddie Caberto.
He attended Hillsboro High School and graduated in the class of 1963. He served in the United States Navy for 3 years during the Vietnam War.
James was a Boilermaker out of Local #60 in Morton IL.
He resided in Hillsboro, IL; Cottage Hills, IL; Kauai, HI; Alton, IL
He married Janet Aquino in Las Vegas on July 9, 1997; she survives.
He is also survived by children; Kristina Jacoby-Ottwell of Alton; Jacque Jacoby III of South Carolina; Carl Caberto of Hawaii; Clifford Caberto of Hawaii; and Michael Caberto Jr. of Hawaii. 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters; Cindy Hayen of Hillsboro, IL; Cathy (husband, Ken) Gaffney of Litchfield, IL; Judy DevlescHoward of Auburn, IL; Mary Gibson of Rock Island, IL; and Dianne Kaufman of Denver, Co.
He was a member of Boilermaker Local #60; Loved to watch sports and movies; he also enjoyed woodworking and remodeling homes.
Memorials can be made to PAWS Care.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL
Father Daniel Willenborg, Pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate.
Cremation Rites were accorded.
