QUINTON 'SQUEAK' BOOTEN

EAST ALTON — Quinton D. "Squeak" Booten, 87, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018 at his home.

Born May 11, 1931 in East Alton, he was a son of Everett Lee and Ethel M. (Carpenter) Booten.

He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he married Bonnie Buttry on April 16, 1955. She survives.

Squeak worked as a tool and die maker for McDonnell-Douglas. He was a member of the East Alton American Legion Post #794 and had served on the East Alton Beautification and History Committees. He was a diehard baseball fan and an avid fisherman. Upon his retirement, he began woodworking. He has created many different works, from furniture to rocking horses. His works are scattered all over the country and were given as loving gifts to his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Terri Angleton of Bethalto; a son, Doug (Kelly) Booten of East Alton; five grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Turner, Ryan (Kelli) Angleton, Kimberly Olson, and Katelyn and Gage Booten; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Turner, Carson Olson, Ryli Angleton and Ryker Angleton; two sisters, Helen Billingsley of Indianapolis, Indiana and Doris Booten of Los Angeles, California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Mundy and Dorothy Ventress; and three brothers, Vernon, Charles, and Everett J. Booten.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 29 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 9:30 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Kenny Buttry will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
