ROBERT PAPE
MORO — Robert (Bob) Pape, 72, died unexpectedly at 9:23 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
Bob was born in Litchfield on Feb. 17, 1943, to Arthur and Dorothy Pape, the first of two sons.
He married Linda Sheppard on July 31, 1971. From this union came the three (as Bob would say) "best sons in the world" (who think he was the "best dad in the world").
Bob worked for 35 years as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas / Boeing where he "designed the best airplanes in the world" and "trained the best pilots in the world." Bob was a lifetime aficionado of Allis Chalmers tractors. His pride and joy was a 1962 AC D17 that he restored to mint condition. His sons remember him for teaching the importance of hard work and fun. They especially remember the times he helped them make winning Pinewood Derby cars.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years; three sons, Brian (Lanh) of Acton, California, Eric (Monique) of Campbell, California, and Michael (Stephanie) of Muskego, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Chris, Marie and Olivia; a brother Darrell (Linda); sister-in-law, Sallie (Tom) Klimczak, and brother-in-law, Ron (Patty) Sheppard.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Kathy's House in Milwaukee, WI (kathys-house.org).

We only knew Bob and Linda a few short weeks - but it was evident the love they shared. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Linda and her family.

This quote by Frank Sinatra is how I remember Bob: I would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful time living his life, and who had good friends, a fine family. I don't think I could ask for anything more than that, actually.
2007 visit.
