SCOTT HERZOG

GAINESVILLE, FLA. — Scott Matthew Herzog, 41, former resident of Rosewood Heights, Ill., passed away at 8:44 p.m. on August 30, 2015, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. with his family at his side.

He was born on June 4, 1974, the son of the late Ronald Joseph and Gail (Mattingly) Herzog. He married his soul mate, Tammy Maxin, daughter of Patrick and Sharon (Sauls) Maxin on November 23, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, Ill.

Scott graduated from Civic Memorial High School, Bethalto, Ill. in 1992. He earned a B.S. in Business from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and enjoyed a successful business career, beginning his work with Spectrum Brands as an Account Manager, then Category Analyst before joining Ajilon Consulting as a Category Space Coordinator. For the last 11 years he has been employed by Anheuser-Busch, Anheuser-Busch InBev, working his way up from Category Space Manager, to Manager, Retail Analysis and Category Management, to Senior Key Account Manager, to Senior District Manager, his last position.

He lived his life with a smile on his face, always making others laugh, never getting caught up in trivial things that don't really matter. He truly enjoyed and appreciated life's simple pleasures, and freely shared his zest for life. Scott could light up a room in a flash, and everyone loved the opportunity to be in his presence. He loved their Boston Terriers, Jimmy Buffet, Cardinal Baseball, and fishing off the pier in Navarre, Fla. He had a soft spot in his heart for the homeless with whom he enjoyed sharing his food. Scott donated his corneas to some very fortunate person who will have eyes to see the world as he did.

In addition to his wife, Tammy Herzog, Scott is survived by his siblings, Christopher (Stacey) Herzog of Rosewood Heights, Ill., Sarah (Shannon) Heston of Katy, Texas, and Shannon Harms of Houston, Texas; his mom, aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends and relatives who miss him deeply.

Scott was preceded in death by his dad, Ronald J. Herzog; his paternal grandparents, Barney and Lucille (Hoog) Herzog; and maternal grandparents, Elliott and Katherine (Hotop) Mattingly.

A celebration of Scott's life is scheduled from 4-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at The Loading Dock in Grafton, Ill. This will be a time to honor Scott for the amazing person he was to all us us by sharing sweet memories and cherishing his life with family and friends.

A Memorial Mass is planned for a later date to be determined.

Cremation was handled by Crevasse's Simple Creation, Gainesville, Fla.
