Donald Eagen Obituary

Donald J. Eagen, Kingston, entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014. He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Nan Shovlin Eagen of Kingston and Pocono Manor.

Donald was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University. He also studied law at Harvard University.

Mr. Eagen enlisted in the United States Army and served our country during World War II. He worked for more than 40 years in the financial services industry, beginning as an investment analyst with Reynolds Inc., Philadelphia, and continuing as an investment adviser in the trust department of the former Meridian Bank, now known as Wells Fargo.

An avid reader, traveler (in his younger days) and student of history, Mr. Eagen was able to converse eloquently on multiple topics, including politics, literature and American history. He was a member of the Mory's Club, New Haven, Conn., and the Vesper Club, Philadelphia.

Donald is survived by his brothers, Joseph A. Eagen, husband of Marguerite (Killeen) Eagen, Kingston; and James L. Eagen, Philadelphia and Kingston; and his sister, Mary (Eagen) McDonald, Scranton, widow of Dr. Herbert McDonald; three nephews, Thomas G. Eagen, husband of Megan (Reehl) Eagen, John E. Eagen, husband of Maureen (Monahan) Eagen, and Robert F. Eagen, husband of Jennifer (Drubner) Eagen; and a niece, Katherine Eagen Thornton, wife of William P. Thornton, Jr.; three great-nephews (Evan, Jack and Jake) and three great-nieces (Emma, Grace and Addie).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014. Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. The family will receive friends between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in honor of Mr. Eagen to a local charity.
