Dear Gene
Today is the last day I will be able to write to you but I will never stop talking to you. You are the love of my life. Who thought what would happen the first time I met you at Newton Lake,I sure didn't. I have great memories that we made together-some bad but mostly great ones-they are the things that keep me going. I can wish for you to come back all I want but it will never happen. Now I wish for you peace and contentment. Please keep looking out for me and our grandkids and the girls. We still need you and your guidance
Be at peace and know that I will always love you. You are in my heart forever. I love you.

With all my love
Marylynn

Hi Honey
It's Christmas Eve and I'm here writing to you when we should be out visiting our friends.I couldn't write to you on December 15th--it was to hard for me to do,I hope you understand. I miss you so much. Ginny said to me the other day that everything changes now,I didn't want to believe her but she is right.Nothing is the same since you left.Sarah wanted to have Christmas brunch like we did before-you loved all that confusion and the cooking-but it isn't the same.I can't see you with the red apron on and giving the orders to Sarah about the scrambled eggs.Everything has changed and not for the better. I'm lonesome and lonely without you-will that hole in my heart ever go,will that lost feeling ever go I knowyou are having a much better Christmas where you are and I'm happy for you-you deserve that. You have no more painand nothing to worry about.Be happy and keep looking after us.
Merry Christmas Gene. I love and miss you very much

Hey Gene,
Sad day yesterday not being able to call you and sing that sick song I have been singing to you for, I don't rewmember how many years. (The birthday cake was heavy but the candles made it light, etc.)
You are on my mind all the time buddy and I wear your ring everyday in Loving Memory of the best friend I have ever had.
I try real hard to keep in touch with Mellon as much as possible and I always will. She is so uplifting everytime I speak with her.
Love you Buddy!

Hi Honey,

Today is your birthday and I sit here wondering what we would be doing tonight-aside from the cake and ice cream we would be having with the kids. I think I may ask Biance and Sarah to take me out for YOUR birthday and have a drink for you!!!!!!!!!!
Love you
Marylynn

Hi Honey
We celebrated another anniversary last week. I couldn't write to you then but now it's even harder.Who would have thought we could be together 36 years--this would have been 36 years. Not a day goes by that your not thought of or something will happen and we say Where is Gene when you need him? I know where you are and I don't like it one bit! Sarah and I took the kids Holloweening tonight--Annah was saying how she always gave you her Peanutbutter cups and I got the Whoppers. We all started to laugh. I miss you very much and wish every day you were here. I wish I could hear you ask for that cup of coffee at night,or the peanutbutter and jelly sanwiches with tea--even if I didn't make them the right way, there are so many things I miss about us but I have the memories. I love you always

Sept.2008
Hi Honey It's been nine months since you left and it seems like yesterday. How about Annah in the middle school this year--she is not out little girl any more. You know all that has been going on but it feels better when I write to you. If I was granted one wish it would be to see you again and be able to spend the day talking to you and holding your hand. Such a big part of me is empty and I can't seem to fill it--That empty part is you. Please come and see me if only for a minute.I love you. Marylynn

Dear Marylynn,
My prayers are with you and your family during the difficult times you share. Gene was a fun loving man. I wish I had words to comfort you but I do not. Just keep the faith that Gene is your guardian angel and he is helping you make the decisions in your life. Remember your friends are only a phone call away.

Hi Honey It's been six months since you left and it seems like yesterday.I have a hard time dealing without you--you said I would not make it without you and as usual, you are right. Since your gone it seems like total chaos in this house, the girls fight and I'm trying to stay out of it-you would be proud of me--you always kept the peace in this house.I guess I have to sit back and let them work it out themselves. It is a hard thing to do.I talk to Bob Swartz at least once a month. It is good to hear from him.Patti Melfi calls to check in and see how I am.Well I will talk to you later. I love and miss you more with every passing day. Please help to keep me strong and keep going. I LOVE YOU Marylynn

Hi Honey

I just came home from a Memorial Service that hospice had for all their patients that have passed away. They had at least 100 people there. They listed all the peoples names that had passed. I wish yours wasn't on ther but it was. Amy "Cupcake" was there and she said that a group of nurses had to go to Penn State for the weekend and you were the topic of conversation for quite awhile. It was all good she said. I also saw Kathy Kennedy-the one who lost her cell phone in your bed. I miss you so very much.It seems like it gets worse instead of better.I need you so much.I can't make a decision on my own,I second guess myself all the time and it just plain sucks.I think of you all the time.Love Marylynn

In the short period of time I knew Gene I was welcomed into your family. Because of that, I knew that kind of man he was and why so many people were touched by his friendship. He has left behind his legacy in all of you. May you continue to carry on the fine qualities of Gene that are reflected in each of you. KINDNESS, GENEROSITY, LOVE

I have a lot of reasons to be grateful for Gene, but none greater than the love he had for my daughter, Annah. I know I didn't say it enough when he was alive, but thank you Gene. Not just for being a friend to me but for taking such great care of my little girl.

Some years ago a famous person in the golf world said, “You can tell a lot about a person by playing golf with him.”

I have played golf with Gene on many occasions and in the process I have come to know and admire Gene Scaccia. I don’t think I ever beat Gene in an eighteen hole match. I won a few holes here and there but at the end of the match, Gene came out on top.

In playing with Gene I learned that Gene was a patient and considerate companion, a fair and honest competitor, an encouraging and engaging partner, a gracious victor and above all else, a really good friend. I will miss Gene forever.

IN LOVING MEMORY TO THE BROTHER I NEVER HAD

Dear Mellon (Marylynn), Bianca & Sarah,
What can one say to another when you have just lost your best friend except I loved him dearly and he will be missed forever. What can one say to their family except THANK YOU for sharing him with me and THANK YOU for the letting me be a member of your family. I have been blessed by your love and friendship and now you have helped me obtain solace from your gift as it moves from one hand to another. Rest assured Gene’s treasure will be worn with honor, pleasure and pride.
I ask that God may take care of you all and bless you with loving memories.

I leave you with excerpts from my Eulogy to Gene:

No complaints and no regrets
I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets

But there's no yes in yesterday
And who knows what tomorrow brings, or takes away

May all your storms be weathered
And all that's good get better

Here's to life
Here's to love
And Gene: here's to you

I'll miss coming in to see that smile on your face,
and the sound of your voice when you greet me, that no one can replace.
The sight of you sitting on your big, old comfy couch,
another memory of your life that will never leave that house.
Quietly strong, but gentle, driven to succeed,
ready to give of yourself to anyone in need.
When others speak about you they say "kind; great-hearted; friend; someone you can go to; on him you can depend".
So use those words as comfort and know that we all feel the same-
That the memories are good ones and there's honor in your name.

*I've had the pleasure of having you in my life, and the memories of things we've done, said, laughed and cried about. You are a true gentleman, and you have raised a wonderful family, whom I love just as if they were my own. You take care of them from up there, and I'll take care of them from down here. I love you and I'll miss you.
