Gerald Maushart Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" A. Maushart, 74, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Gustave P. Maushart and Florence Bayly. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and served in the Army for four years. Jerry was married to the former Kathryn M. Pappas for over 45 years, and was employed by Procter & Gamble for over 30 years.

Jerry was an amazing husband and father and very personable with all. Jerry enjoyed family vacations and spending time with his family, including baby sitting his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He also loved spending time at the family cabin, fishing and being the man of all trades, fixing things and always finding a project to work on.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Walsh and husband, Lawrence, Scranton; and a son, Bruce, Scranton; two grandchildren, Cassondra and Nikolas Walsh; and a great-granddaughter, Skylar Royce; two brothers, James Maushart and wife, Rita, Dunmore; and Robert Maushart, Scranton; a sister, Janet Monahan, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was also preceded into death by a brother, John of Rochester, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 1500 Penn Ave., Scranton. The family will receive family and friends on Monday from 4 to 8 at the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home, 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, private, at the convenience of the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Maushart family. Jerry and I were neighbors for many years. He often visited my garage on the corner of New York and Penn. We had many good conversations over the years. He will be missed by all who know him.
