Jerome Patrick Obituary

Jerome R. (Jerry) Patrick Jr., 52, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday at his home.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Jerome R. and Florence Orzel Patrick Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Christine (nee Makowski). He is also survived by his two daughters, Kylie and Jordan, who were the center of his life.

He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and West Scranton Senior High School, class of 1982. He received Bachelor of Science degrees in math and physics from Mount Union College, Alliance Ohio. He then completed the coursework for his masters in computer science at the University of Cincinnati.

He was an active swimmer throughout his academic career. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow with the Boy Scouts of America. His greatest love came from his girls or "ladies" as he called them. He would do anything for them. He often changed his plans or work schedule so he could be driver, spectator or fan at field hockey, ballet, track, marching band or anything they needed him for. He checked in regularly to see how their day was or if he was needed at home.

He was most recently employed at Deluxe Digital Media, Moosic, as a computer programmer. Before that, he was a valued employee of AFTECH, Schott Glass, as well as an owner of a Digi-Kids franchise.

He is also survived by his aunt, Patricia Popis, of East Stroudsburg, her children, Chris, Kelli and Nicole; sisters-in-law, Joanne Millan and Wanda Petrillo; brother-in-law, Ray Makowski and wife, Patty; and his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Gloria Makowski. He was also adored by his nieces and nephew, Troy Petrillo, Felica Petrillo, Rachel Millan, Hannah Makowski, Shelby Petrillo and Jessie Millan. Also surviving is his best bud No. 1, Joni Pierce, of West Brandy-Wine.

He was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church, where he held the office of treasurer for many years. As was typical of his selflessness, many lives will be helped by his donation to Gifts of Life.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, 531 E. Locust St., Scranton.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until time of Mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been established for his daughters at ATTN: Christine Patrick, Citizens Savings Bank, P.O. Box 567, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sznyter Funeral Home, 1101 Prospect Ave., Scranton.
