Linda Clark Obituary

It is with the greatest sadness my heart can endure that I announce the death of my wife, Linda. My name is Jack.

Linda Clark, 65, of Mayfield, entered into eternal rest on Aug. 1, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore after a 12-day stay. She was surrounded by the most loving compassionate angels here on earth 24 hours a day providing her with unequaled care and comfort right up until the moment of her death and beyond. Her sons were with her and I never left her side and was holding her hand as she passed.

Linda's journey began at Tripler hospital in Oahu, Hawaii on May 25, 1959. She was born to Gunnery Sgt. Lawrence Totaro and 2nd Lt. (honorary) Evelyn Davis Totaro, USMC. They resided in Hawaii until the Marine Corps decided they enjoyed enough of paradise on the government's dime and transferred them to Oceanside, California and then to Yuma Arizona where a few years later the Gunny decided it was time to retire from their beloved Corps and move his squad home. Home would be Mayfield where we still reside today.

Linda is survived by her sons, Robert, at home; and Bryan and his wife, Bethany, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; her granddaughter, Olivia. Also surviving are her sister, Carol; sister-in-law, Trish; brother-in-law, Jim and his wife, Kayleen; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, all whom were always on her mind and in her heart and, of course, me. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, mother and father; uncle, Donald; brother, Larry; and niece, Lisa Gillott.

Linda graduated from Lakeland High School with honors in 1977. She then graduated from LCVTS as an LPN, a title she held dear for the rest of her life even though she furthered her education after her retirement she still preferred the title of LPN.

Linda was employed by Community Medical Center for 25 years working in the NICU. A pleasure not a job as she would say caring for infants and premature infants until injury prevented her from doing so. My God she loved that job so and it broke her heart to leave. And yes, my wife probably did take care of your baby.

Retirement did not last long as we moved into the family homestead so that Linda could better take care of her aging mother which she did so for years.

Linda's war with breast cancer began in January 2023. She sustained several months of chemotherapy until her tumors were no more. In October she underwent a bilateral mastectomy followed by immunotherapy. In April 2024 it was determined she was cancer free. In June she started to feel sick again and on July 14, 2024 the beast she had so valiantly defeated, reared its ugly head again as the cancer had metastasized to her brain. She died 18 days later. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the ER department at Regional Hospital of Scranton for discovering that she had brain cancer, the staff of nurses at Regional ICU and 6 West who provided her loving care until her transfer back home with me for a few days until her admission to hospice. Also the EMT's and paramedics from William Walker, Archbald Ambulance and Cottage Hose for their excellent service and care.

I can't even begin to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for counseling me at the hospital, assisting me at home and then the admission to their inpatient unit. Angels come in many forms and she was fortunate enough to be cared for by the very best. I will never forget you. You will always be on my mind in my heart and on my arm.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale, Pa. Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Charles A. Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, PA 18433. In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.

To my friend Linda and her family, I was a friend of Linda's starting at Mayfield Jr High and thru our senior year at Lakeland. Although we did not keep in touch since then, I will miss her. Linda was a wonderful human being and one of the nicest I have ever met. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Jack , Carol and Family,
I'm so incredibly sad to hear of Linda's passing. I too had the opportunity to grow up with Linda
and Carol, spending alot of time at the family home, time at the cottage at Chapman Lake and countless sleepovers, Dancing and
singing to Donny and Marie Osmund. Our Mother's were best friends also. We reconnected years later after the birth of my children, fortunately they didn't need the NICU, but she stopped in frequently to visit and made sure I was all stocked up when we left to go home. I work at Viewmont an in later years We would talk and catch up a bit when she would bring her Mom for labs or xray. I had no idea she had cancer or I would have come visit. She was a very special, loving person and My heart breaks for you that you must now navigate life without her. I will certainly miss her...Know that she is now at peace with our Heavenly Father and we will see her again in our forever home when our time comes. Praying God's Love and peace over you, your boys , Carole and family.
Love,
Maridean Rosemergey Beichler

Jack,
My heart aches with you, Carole, and boys to read of Linda´s passing.
She was my beloved and special friend growing up, and during our high school years at Lakeland.
We continued as study buddies throughout our time in nursing school, and I was honored to be a bridesmaid in your wedding.
Our Mom´s were the best of friends and I have so many wonderful memories of days and nights spent at your home in Mayfield with Carole and Larry.
Jack, your words truly show your selfless love for Linda and both honored her life, her passions, and her beautiful spirit. She loved with everything she had.
May she rest in perfect peace with our Lord Jesus, until we are all joined in our permanent heavenly home.
May God richly bless you, and may you all feel His presence during this difficult time.
All my love and prayers,

Mark and Elaine Mendicino

Hello Jack, My name is Mary and I am formerly from Scranton, but have relocated to Florida. I read the local obituaries every day as a way to keep in touch with NEPA. I never write to people that I don't know, but your obituary for your beloved wife has me in tears. Your expression of her life and your love is so touching. I am so sorry that you lost her so early in life. I would have loved to know her, and I can't express how sorry I feel that you have to learn to live without her. God bless you in your journey - I will keep you and your family, as well as Linda in my prayers. You were so fortunate to have found such a love - here on this earth. Remember, she is with you always, talk to her, listen to the radio, she will let you know that she is always around you.
Sincerely, Mary Niemotka

To a Dear,Dear Loving Long time friend,
To anyone reading this Linda and myself go way back to our school years, I even lived across the street from her childhood home for a couple years. The neighborhood kids we all got together everyday after school , we were always doing something together Whether it was down her basement singing and playing the 45 One is the Loneness Number and dancing ,having sleep overs at Gebert's ,Bell's Reeves or playing basketball with the Maholic boys or Donald Kidd . We played touch football ,we always
knew what the others were doing. We had so many laughs and great times .We were on the Drill Team together ,we enjoyed those away games on the bus. I have pictures of us just sitting on Gebert's wall and singing Locomotion George Reeves favorite song at the time . I sit here now and can't believe I have lost another friend .Even though we haven't been in touch for awhile I have never forgotten you. I was not aware you were still in the family home I have driven by there so many times even stopped and had some memories . My husbands cousin lives 3 doors down from you and been at the house for birthdays and such ,I would of stopped in if I knew. I have told my husband all about you and everyone I use to be with. I told him who you married we even went to your wedding . Time passes and I had a premature baby and yes you took care of her and reassured us she was ok. We felt so much better knowing someone that was taking care of her ,even though all the people in that unit are wonderful . I knew you got hurt and I tried calling but couldn't get in touch, but was concerned about you. I am not one that forgets my friends and never forgot you . Seeing this article has brought me to tears ,another friend I have lost. May your family know I send my love and condolences I will never forget you . All my Love Marlene Gowat Corrigan .
