Spring Brook Twp., Pennsylvania
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my loving husband, Richard William Morgan, into the arms of the Lord.
Rick was the son of George and Margaret (Kern) Morgan. He grew up in West Scranton and graduated from St. Pat's High School. While at St. Pat's, he was a member of the debate team. One of his greatest joys was a debate at Notre Dame, where he won the nationals. Rick was a lifelong Notre Dame fan after that, along with being a Penn State and New York Yankees fan.
As a kid growing up, he loved building model cars. Rick wrote articles for Car Model magazine. When he was 15, Rick entered a contest for model cars and won a car. He was not even old enough to drive it.
Rick met the love of his life, Karen, selling ice cream from a truck. They were married for 51 years on Sept. 11.
He continued his education at Keystone College where he gave the commencement address.
Rick worked with his dad at Morwall Trucking keeping the trucks running smoothly. From there, he went to Pocono Peterbilt and became sales manager. While working at Peterbilt as a salesman, Rick won the first Peterbilt Salesman of the Year Award.
He and his wife opened a body shop for trucks. Later, Rick took a job as a salesman at Sherwood Freightliner and became sales manager. He loved meeting people and could close a deal faster than you could close a door. He just had a knack for selling.
Rick is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Jason and wife, Michelle, and their daughters, Lexi and Bryanna; his son, Richard and his wife, Kimberly, and their children, Jessica, Olivia, Austin and Jaxson; his two brothers, George and wife, Stephanie; and Bruce and fiancee, MaryLynn; several nieces and nephews; and two grandnephews.
Rick was a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend with a loving heart.
Family joke: "Where's Rick?" My reply, "He's in the shower."
He was my life for 57 years and I will miss him everyday of my life. Until we meet again and live in eternity, I love you with all my heart.
