Mrs. Ola Rae Dover Mc-
Connell, age 89, of Toccoa,
Ga., found her Heavenly
home on Thursday, Aug.
14, 2025.
Born Sept. 16, 1935, in
Turnerville, Ga., she was
the daughter of the late
Clint Earl and Catherine
Leona Shirley Dover. Sib-
lings include the late Bob-
by Dover, and sisters,
Janie Cash, Catherine
Collins, and Shirley Coble.
She was loved and
adored by her many chil-
dren, grandchildren, great
and great-great-grandchil-
dren. Family members in-
clude her sons, Kenneth
Jerry McConnell, Terry
Cecil McConnell
(Lavonne), and Timothy
Ray McConnell (Tracie);
daughters, Alesia Mc-
Connell Holbrooks (Jim-
my), and Deirdre Mc-
Connell Zanoni (Randy);
grandchildren, LaWanda
Mullinix, Laura Ann Sla-
gle, Angela Blair, Donna
Moore, Sydney Keffer,
Aubrey Keffer-Moseley,
Corey Barnes, Jake Hol-
brooks, Ariel Holbrooks,
Allie Zanoni Thomason,
Joey Zanoni, Drew Gibson
and Ashlynn Gibson.
In addition to her par-
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband,
Herman Cecil McConnell;
son, Ricky Herman Mc-
Connell; grandchildren,
Chad McConnell and
Jamie McConnell; and
son-in-law Steve Zanoni.
Mrs. McConnell retired
from Coats American with
46 years of service and
then pursued a degree at
North Georgia Technical
College in medical office.
She was also employed in
the shoe department at
Belk, where she furthered
her hobbies of fashion and
shopping.
She was a member of
Tom's Creek Baptist
Church where she loved to
sing in the choir. Her fa-
vorite holiday was Christ-
mas, where she was able to
celebrate Jesus with her
whole family, whom she
deeply loved. She belonged
to the Red Hat Society and
enjoyed many traveling
adventures including trips
to England, Canada, Alas-
ka, and Hawaii. She en-
joyed spending time out-
side in the sunshine, tend-
ing to her vegetable gar-
den, flowers, walking and
traveling, singing along to
the WNEG radio station,
bird watching, and most
importantly praying and
reading her Bible.
The family received
friends at the mortuary
from 6-8 p.m. Saturday,
Aug. 16, 2025.
A celebration of life ser-
vice was held from the
Chapel of Whitlock Mortu-
ary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday,
Aug. 17, 2025 with the Rev.
Wayne Marcus officiating.
Burial followed at Rose-
lane Cemetery.
