Thomas Miner Obituary

It is with our deepest sadness to announce that Thomas J. Miner Jr. – of Pawcatuck, CT., 15th generation founding Miner of Stonington, Connecticut - passed away tragically, doing what he loved most; riding on his most prized possession, his 2005 BMW Motorcycle on August 9, 2023.
Born January 11, 1973, Tom experienced 50 years of adventure and excitement, filled with love and compassion. Tommy's life was filled with unconditional love from his closest friends and family.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John & Lila Miner, and his maternal grandparents James & Phyllis Critcherson. He is survived by his parents, Thomas "Tink" Miner and Carmela Miner, along with his two greatest blessings, his first born son, Kyle John Miner, with love and support from his mother and step-father Rebecca and Van Visciglia, and his second born son, Aiden Thomas Miner, with love and support from his mother, Suzanne Miner, He is also survived by his best friend and sister, Rebecca (Becky) Dyer; his nieces… the two daughters that Tommy never really wanted, but loved like his own, Madisyn and Harley Dyer; his great-nephews, Westyn and Wyatt, who were his pride and joy, among several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
When he wasn't spending his time with his family and friends, Tom was a thrill-seeking adventurer, riding motorcycles, fooling around in the woods on the four-wheelers with his sons, fishing, or working on the vehicle of the hour. If he wasn't enjoying the beauty of the outdoors around him, he was shopping for things he didn't need on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or AutoTrader. Without fail, we could always find him at Dunkin' grabbing a large hot regular coffee. Tommy was an exceptionally hard worker, maintaining his well-known wood-flooring business, T&K Hardwood Floors, for nearly 30 years. He was always trying his hardest to please his customers, friends, and family. Throughout the years, he has taught his sons his incredible work ethic and how to please his customers in hopes of his business continuing for years to come with his sons at the helm. Although taken to soon from this world, Tom always lived his life with no fear of the future, constantly reminding everyone of his love for them and cracking a joke that only he would laugh at. Tom was always willing to give the shirt from his back, his last $5 to help family, friend, neighbor, or a perfect stranger in need. To honor his memory, now we will raise a Dunkin' large hot regular to celebrate the life of Tom.
His family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, August 17th from 5-8 pm at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. His funeral services and burial will be held privately. A celebration of life will be soon to follow.

This message is to Tink Miner. I Googled your name on August 31 and discovered that you just lost your son in a motorcycle accident. I am Janice Stokes Sumner; what prompted me to even search your name on Google is that just 2 days ago we had a visit from your old Tyndall AFB friend, Willie Weathington, and his wife Hazel. As we sat at Mama´s (Pauline Stokes, now 95 yrs old) and reminisced about the "old days", Mama asked Willie if he ever heard from you and he replied that he hadn´t in many years. Mama told about you stopping for a surprise visit to her workplace in Blountstown many, many years ago. So I Googled your name and that´s when we read about your son´s recent death. I pray that you and the family are finding God´s peace and comfort through your loss.

If you feel so-inclined, you can call my cell. I´ll give you Mama´s number too, but she´s very hard-of-hearing and doesn´t make much sense out of what´s being said on the phone. Dad (Curtis) died in 2000, Mama remarried in 2001, and then her 2nd husband passed on 9/11/2020. She lives alone in a very nice little home Paul built for her in Blountstown 2-3 years ago and we each check in on her often. (As a matter of fact, I stayed the night with her last night after she took a fall in the yard so I´m still here with her now.)

Anyway, we were all just remembering you this past Thursday so I decided to use this condolence link to let you know that some of the folks from your distant pass were thinking about you.

My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family, Tink. May God bless you all!

Becky and Family, so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I never met him but met his grandfather John Miner who gave me a Miner Genealogy Book back in the early 80's at a Miner Reunion at the Ramada Inn. Praying for God's comfort as you all grieve his passing.
