I am so sorry to learn of this news. I met Debbie the summer of 1969 at BGSU. She was beautiful inside and out! I have thought about her often through the years. Debbie and I had long talks together, and she spoke frequently about her boyfriend, Allen. So glad to hear she was happily married and a mom. Debbie was one of those rare people who could make a difference in a short time. So sorry I did not get to see her again. My sympathy to her family and friends. Heaven's gain...

Dear Dr. Carnes, Ryan, and Abby
I was crushed to hear the news. Mrs. Carnes was a blessing to us all. A remarkable mother devoted to her children. Passionate about life and adventure. She was a kindhearted and generous person. I was a target of her kindness and generosity, and for that I am thankful. She is and always will be the embodiment of love and understanding. I am at a loss of words, there is nothing for me to say that will make your loss easier.
I would like to express my deepest sympathy for you at this time.
My condolences,

I was heartbroken to hear of Debbie's passing. She was my college roommate when she attended BGSU. She was also a bridesmaid in my wedding. We had lost touch over the years and just reconnected by phone in the past six weeks. I was just devastated to then suddenly hear she was gone.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you Allen, Abby, and Ryan. She was certainly a wonderful person and a ray of sunshine in everyone's life. She will be missed by so many.
My heartfelt sympathy to you all.

My dearest "Debrina Debrouski "Leggett Carnes,
There are no words to describe our heavy hearts when I know what you would want is for us to be joyful, laugh and celebrate your life.... A celebration well deserved because you lived a life that added so much to this world with your thoughtful ways and energy and love for all people and creatures. You will be missed every day and we will cherish the love and wonderful, fun memories of you. Thanks for all the overnights from middle school on, for being one of my first roommates, for late night chats about everything, for the meals, flowers, fresh veggies and sitting by my side when I was ill, for walks in the park with our dogs, for ALL the laughs and, Deb, until we meet again, May God Hold You in the Palm of His Hand, my beautiful, loving, Irish friend!

“As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here.” ~ Mitch Albom

Our Upper Arlington High School Class of 1969 will miss Debbie! She was a delightful, beautiful, fun and happy girl who worked for several years on class reunions and cared deeply for her friends and classmates. When I think of her, I see that brilliant smile and laughing eyes, and that's how I will always remember her. She was a dear person, gone too soon.

Debbie and Allen were so generous to my daughter by hosting her Rehersal Dinner in their backyard! It rained monstrous drops. But even with the yard turning into slushy mesh, we all huddled together in
tent and eventually made a muddy run for the house. Debbie never let us be anything but festive and happy. She was a sweetheart and will be so missed. Marli Hessler Bills
