Angelo Batini Obituary

ANGELO JOSEPH BATINI (9/26/1933 - 6/13/2018) Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend left this world for Heaven on June 13, 2018, at home in Carlotta with his wife of 48 years, Sharon, by his side. He was exactly where he wanted to be. Angelo was born in Eureka on September 26, 1933 s the first son to Anne and Joseph Batini. He was raised in Humboldt County for most of his life and had many occupations. In 1969 Angelo was running a service station in Arcata with his brother Gary, it was during this year that he met his wife. He also hauled logs prior to meeting Sharon. Angelo worked in trucking, hauled lumber and hay, was a heavy equipment mechanic for the City of Eureka, and received his general contractors' license in 1970. He established his business, B&B Construction in 1973. He and Sharon purchased the old building in Carlotta (the Stage Stop of 1903) and restored the building, opening the one and only Carlotta Hotel in 1978. Angelo loved that place. Upon losing the Hotel in 1996, he was heartbroken. He and Sharon continued living in Carlotta for the remainder of his life. He acquired a "fixer upper" in Willow Creek in 2003 and remodeled it. It became the perfect place to begin a new hobby, gardening. Here, he grew lots of tomatoes and melons while enjoying the warmer weather. Angelo is preceded in death by his son Joe Batini, stepson Stephen Johnson, parents Joseph and Anne Batini, uncles Joe Ramos and Tony Ramos, and sister-in-law Deanna Batini (Dede). He is survived by, the love of his life, his wife Sharon Lue, brother Gary Batini, daughter Angela Batini, daughter and son-in-law JoAnna and David Hayes, Kenneth Johnson, grandchildren Cody Hayes, Dalas Hayes, Nickolas Solbrig, Alex Solbrig, Brooklyn Johnson, Lynsey Johnson, and Chelsie and Brandon Manuel, his 7 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed by longtime friends Melvin and Maryln Madson, Bob and Diana Angelini, Gile and Donna Bryon, Monty Harlow, and many more. Thanks to Hospice of Humboldt, doctors from the Open Door Clinic in Fortuna, and Dr. Dennis in Ferndale. Angelo requested no services or celebration of life. I will leave you with these little notes from family who wish to say something about this awesome man. He will be missed by all of us, but mostly me as he was not only my husband, but my best friend too. God be with you, I will join him someday. -Sharon Lue When I think of the life time of memories with my dad, I am filled with love and gratitude. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and demonstrated the character and integrity of what it means to be a great dad to my boys. His love, patience, and acceptance was unending. As I reflect on 56 years as his daughter, it's like flipping through the pages of a joyful book. My heart is filled with happy memories and my eyes filled with tears; his passing leaves a hole in my heart. His love for his family was immeasurable and lives on in each of our hearts and will hold us together until we all meet again. -Angela Angelo Batini, an amazing grandfather and wise friend. He taught me a skill I will never forget and use every day. I grew up loving to go over and see him and Nana, they always knew how to bring a smile to my face. I remember when I was 5 years old, Nana was going to feed the horses and, as a 5 year old, that was a BIG deal, but Ol' Papa had other plans. I didn't know how to tie my shoes, so Papa and I made a deal; if I could tie my shoes 10 times in a row, I could go help with the horses and chickens. With my grandfather's patience and persistence, I learned to tie my shoes FAST. Although there are many wonderful memories that I could share, this is my favorite. I will love and miss him and will hold him very close in my heart. -Alex (Alfonso) My grandfather was one of the most influential, understanding, and caring people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and loving. All of his life lessons ad memories will be cherished forever. His positivity and sense of humor could make anyone smile in any situation. His presence made life brighter for all that he encountered. Even after his passing, I know how blessed I am to have had such an incredible grandfather. -Nick My father was a sweet, wise, and generous man. He was always doing something for everyone else. His family was his greatest love, next to his wife. He was so proud of each and every one of his children, grandchildren, and son-in-law. He was always full of advice and quick witted sayings. One of my favorite memories with my dad was the time he and I spent a night on his boat at the docks in Eureka. We were going to sail away together into the sun set, you have now sailed without me. I will think of you every day and miss you just as much each day until I see you again. I love you today and forever. -JoAnna Besides Angelo being a great father-in-law, one of my most memorable times would be when I first began dating JoAnna. When I would go to the Carlotta Hotel, he would stare at me in "the way only Angelo could look" and would make me feel as uncomfortable as possible. He did this just to warm up to me and accept me into the family. I thank him for letting me marry his daughter. I will always remember him. -David My Papa was one of a kind. No matter how busy he was, he was never too busy for family. Papa was an excellent mentor to me and a great friend as well. I will always remember and cherish all of the time I got to spend working on projects with him, as well as the patience, knowledge, nd love he gave to me. -Cody Papa was a loving man filled with smiles and laughter. He cared for his family and was always interested in our lives. As I went to college, there were many things he didn't understand about it, but he was always eager to ask questions and know about my time at school. He never failed to tell me that he was proud or that I was doing a good job. One thing I will always remember and hold close is the blanket he gave me for my birthday. Papa was never one to buy gifts, but he insisted on giving me a blanket that says "Granddaughters are angels sent from above to fill our hearts with unending love." This angel will return to you some day. I love and miss you Papa. -Dalas I miss you brother and will see you in Heaven. -Gary Angelo Batini was a man's' man and a jack of all trades; Dairyman, truck driver, restaurateur, and town owner of Carlotta. Angelo was a loving family man and husband to Sharon. He was a friend to many people near and far away. While his quick wit, infectious laugh, and smile made many lasting friendships. Angelo's big heart and vast knowledge of life are what I'll miss most. Rest well uncle, you were loved by all. -Jon I'll miss your big heart, kind spirit, words of wisdom, and your great sense of humor. I love you very much Uncle Cookie. -Debi Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com
