Charles Iorg Jr

On December 22, 2020, our loving dad Charles Iorg Jr passed from this life into the next at the age of 96. He resided in Vacaville, California.
Charles was born on August 14, 1924 in Ioka, Utah. He grew up on a farm and was no stranger to the hard work farm life required. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Roosevelt, Utah where he was a star athlete and played football, basketball, and baseball. After high school he attended Brigham Young University. In 1943 Charles enlisted in the Marines where he served as a radio mechanic for fighter airplanes at Ewa Air Force base in Hawaii. His squadron was responsible for teaching pilots how to operate from aircraft carriers. He also played football for the Marines and was their first-string quarterback. Throughout his life Charles was a proud Marine and a patriot of his country. He flew the American flag daily.
Charles met and married his wife Leona Johnson Iorg on November 5, 1947 in Ely, Nevada and they were later sealed in the Oakland Temple. Charles and Leona moved to Northern California and eventually settled in Blue Lake, California, where they resided for forty-seven years. Together they had four children, Rona, Dane, Lee, and Garth. Charles was highly active and involved in the Blue Lake community where he was a volunteer fireman, coached baseball teams, played on numerous baseball teams and developed lasting friendships. He worked at Macintosh and Simpson lumber mills until he retired.
Charles' children attended Arcata High School where they were all active in school activities and sports. Charles and his wife Leona were their children's biggest fans and never missed attending their games. His love and support for his children never wavered as he was the loving patriarch of his family. His wit and humor are the source of many family stories.
Charles And Leona sold their house in Blue Lake in 2000 and bought a house in Tennessee to be near his son Garth and his family, He lived in Tennessee for ten years and was active in his church and coached baseball with Garth. Charles and Leona spent the last years of their lives living in Vacaville, California, with his daughter Rona and her family where he has left behind many friends.
Charles had a wonderful life and was dearly loved and adored by his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Johnson Iorg, his parents, Charles Iorg and Carrie Katherine Weeks and his 10 siblings. He is survived by his daughter Rona Portalupi, son-in-law Richard Portalupi, son Dane Iorg, daughter-in-law Gay Iorg, son Lee Iorg, daughter-in-law Pam Iorg, son Garth Iorg, daughter-in-law Patty Iorg, twenty-one grandchildren, sixty-eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
As his children we would like to thank the people who knew and loved him for their friendships to him and for the wonderful sentiments we have received.
