Ms. Jones was my cheerleading coach. Now that I teach, I think about how much energy and dedication she had to stay and coach us annoyingly bouncy cheerleaders! What a legacy she has - my admiration endures.

Dear Sara and Jones Family,
Janie was a very strong woman in the line of the illustrious Jones-McCaslin families. She kept working as a highly regarded English teacher, coach, and mentor as she battled cancer to the end. Deana, also an English teacher, admired Janie's love of teaching English and love of her students.
We pray your grief will be short. Matthew 11:28-30; Philippians 4:7-13.

When I saw Mrs. Jones on my schedule I was terrified. I had heard she was the hardest teacher in school, If not the planet. I can say now, that she is my favorite teacher ever (even surpassing my 1st grade teacher who was pretty tough competition). By the end of the semester of her class I felt more capable of anything. She was tough in that she actually saw how capable we could be and held us to that standard. I still tell my kids about the things I learned from her that applies to my everyday life. I am so sorry for your loss.

Your mom was one of a kind! She was our junior high cheer coach at Northeast in the mid 80s... she pushed us hard to be the very best! She made me who I am today; I am forever thankful. I am so sorry for your loss...

Mrs. Jones is one of the few teachers I remember from my high school years. I remember that she was both funny, fierce, sarcastic, and had such a capacity for teaching high school kids who didn't always have the best attitude. The world is a little less bright without her in it. She will be missed.

Mrs. Jones was my teacher for three out of my four years at Skyline. She was a hard teacher but only because she knew her students could produce better work. I had the pleasure of aiding for her in one of my last years and it was the best thing I could. I got to spend so much more time with her and get to know so much about her. She was an amazing lady and an even better teacher. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Jones treated us like adults when were snotty teenagers. She was sarcastic and fun and gained the respect of her students by giving them attitude right back:) Biggest hugs and peace to her family. She will always be too cool for school.

I loved the approach she took to teaching something so crucial in a lesson. She not only brought a humerous and sarcastic side to things, but had the perfect timing to slow down, make us pay attention, and really grasp the concept at hand. When I was struggling and didnt think I was going to graduate, she gave me a pep talk to kick me in to high gear. I buckled down, and got things done. She played a big part in me succeeding, & walking with my class. Thank you Mrs. Jones. You are and will be deeply missed. ❤

Janie and I taught together at Northeast jr high. We were cohorts there and friends outside of school
I fondly remember her rolling her eyes. Her trade mark
She often house sat for me while I traveled. When I got home my house was clean and the furniture rearranged. We also spent New Year’s Eve together with other friends playing board games. Unfortunately she and I lost track of each other. I did not know she was will. I have fond memories of times we shared. She was a wonderful person and will be remembered by many.

My father was my favorite teacher. Janie was the next. I loved her class at Northeast Jr High. Great sense of humor and she talked to us like the young adults we were. So sorry to hear of her passing. In a school full of outstanding teachers, Janie was tops among them.

Janie, the landscape is a lot emptier without you in it. You are fiercely loved and missed!

Mrs. Jones was one of my favorite teachers. She was hard-nosed, but that was something I needed. She instilled courage and confidence in my self worth. And yes, I remember diagramming SEVERAL sentences in her class. Lol. Prayers to her family. She will never be forgotten. Hopefully I can do the same things she did for me to my own students.
