Albert Linwood Loth, Jr.
Albert Linwood Loth, Jr. 98 passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Doris Elliott Loth. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Whitehead and husband Steve, Paula Edmunds and husband Holt, Anne Pallotta and husband Dean, and Leslie Roberts and husband Michael: nine grandchildren, Brewster Richardson (Tara), Katherine Field (Rusty), Laura Fitzgerald (Kevin), Scott Richardson, Jared Newton (Kate), Alex Cramer (Laura), Thomas Cramer (Elise), Justin Black (Maeve), Parker Black; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Loth was born in Richmond, VA and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1944. He served as Regimental Commander of the Corps of Cadets and received the Civitan Club's first award to high school students for citizenship.
He graduated from The Virginia Military Institute in the class of 1948 B, with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and was inducted into the honorary Engineering Society, Tau Beta Pi. He served as Regimental Commander of the Corps of Cadets and was awarded the National ROTC medal for Leadership and Excellence.
Upon graduation from VMI, he joined the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. Over the following 41 years, he served in several departments and capacities in Virginia and with the AT&T Company in New York. He retired in 1989 from Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) as Managing Director of Dialed and Private Line Services. His community services included fund raising for the American Red Cross, fifteen years as a member of the City of Richmond Personnel Board, and several years as an Arbitrator for Virginia State employees' grievances. He was a member of Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, and Willow Oaks Country Club. His hobbies included golf, tennis and keyboard music.
Family and friends are invited to gather at 10 a.m. for Visitation at Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive, on Thursday February 19, prior to the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. A reception at the church will follow the Mass. Interment will be private.
