Brenda Sherrell Broadwater Stewart passed away on December 10, 2024 with her loved ones by her side. Brenda was born in Charleston W.VA on May 28, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Russell Hale Broadwater and Mrs. Jewell Squires Broadwater. As a child she and family moved to West Union W.VA. As a teenager she and her sister were raised by her grandparents Jack and Clemma Squires. Brenda graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1958. She moved to Warren, Ohio where she attended Beauty School while working at Packard Electric Factory. Later in 1958 she married Jack Lee Stewart, who was serving in the U.S. Army at the time.

Brenda loved life. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She loved raising and training Newfoundland dogs. She dedicated countless years as an instructor to Richmond Dog Obedience Club (RDOC). She was active in the 4-H club as a child and as a leader in adulthood taking several Horse Bowl teams to victory throughout the years. She loved fishing on her property in the "Beartrack Mudhole", playing cards, and games with family and friends. She loved country music, going to concerts, and watching Country Road Music on TV. Brenda worked for many years in the Office of the University Registrar at VCU. Her passion later in life was serving as an active member of the Powhatan Republican Association. Brenda is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack Lee Stewart, her sister, Jackie Hall (FL), 2 daughters, Vicki S. Heyde (Robert Heyde) of Powhatan, VA, Heather S. Glunt (Anthony Glunt) of Chesterfield, VA, two grandsons Brian T. Morrison of Powhatan, VA and Corbin S. Glunt (Emily Glunt) of Goochland, VA., and two of her dearest friends, Thuy and Quynh Nguyen, who have been close to her heart for many years. The family will hold a memorial and celebration of her life for family and friends in the spring.
