Charley Baxter Obituary

BAXTER, Charley, Charles Thomas Baxter ("Charley"), 69, died on August 13, 2023 in Savannah, Georgia following a brief fight with cancer. Charley had everyone around him laughing until the end, and although he will be missed by those who knew him, he left us with smiles on our faces.

Charley was born and raised in Roanoke, VA and had a passion for the arts from a young age. He went on to study theater and graduated with a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Charley was a legendary figure in Virginia film and television production for over four decades. Production was much more than a job for Charley, it was his passion. He worked with stars and housekeepers, and he treated them all with the same respect and kind attention. Charley's film and TV credits are too long to list, but he would be the first to declare that "making friends is a helluva lot more important than making movies."

In addition to many close friends, Charley leaves behind his brother Benjamin Baxter, his three children, Blair Baxter Gilchrist, Anne Shannon Baxter, Chuck Baxter and their families, including four granddaughters.
