David Pirron Obituary

David Pirron

January 8, 1934 - September 23, 2024

David Pirron (born January 8, 1934 in Tel Aviv, Israel) passed away peacefully in Richmond, VA on September 23, 2024 at age 90 with his son, Michael Pirron and (soon to be) daughter-in-law, Tanya Seidman by his side. He is survived by his sister, Shaula Harari; and brother, Jonathan Perry; and by his three granddaughters, Talia, Eliana, and Naomi Pirron. David was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Neugass Pirron of Washington, DC.

At age fourteen, David was celebrating with the crowds at the spot where, and at the moment when, Israel became a country. David's mother was Rivka Malavsky, and his father Alex Feigin, whose family operated a soap factory (Shemesh soap) in Netanya, Israel.

As a young man, David considered becoming a rabbi but chose a different path. He spent three years at Tel Aviv University and then three years at Howard University in Washington, DC while working as a military attaché in the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC. It was at a party in the nation's capital that David met Anne Neugass, a Reform Jewish DC native, and they soon became a couple.

Married in 1966 in Washington, DC, and naturalized as a US citizen a decade later, David worked first as a salesman at Kann's Department Store in downtown DC, but soon thereafter started a business with his wife Anne, a gift shop named "The Personal Touch" that they started and ran for over 30 years. Located initially in the famous Watergate Hotel, they then relocated to the Crystal City Underground shopping mall in Arlington, VA.

David and Anne also shared a love of dance. While Anne ran dance classes at various locations in northern Virginia, David enjoyed learning the steps and helping demonstrate them to class participants.

Having moved to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to their son's family, David frequently read Hebrew in services in a local synagogue.

Michael and family, I am sincerely sorry for the passing of each of your parents. I treasured their friendship so much. They brought me a sample back from Jordan River ( I think) in coke bottle. For me. It has long since evaporated I wondered how they were so I looked up obituaries. They had a full life. We closed our business 10 years ago. After 2008 mortgage crisis this never recovered. My husband Dave Rodes passed 5 yrs ago age 65. Our gift shops were Reflections of Yesteryear and Swiss Valley Lace. We were in business 25 years. I’m Darlene Rodes . Think of them often very fondly. May God bless you and yours richly in every way..
