January 4, 1946 - August 15, 2025
Dorothy, born January 4, 1946 in Richmond, Va., went to be with her Lord on August 15, 2025.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Cress; beloved daughter, Karen Cress Sullivan (Greg); and precious granddaughter, Sarah Grace Sullivan. Also surviving are sister, Katherine Osmun; brother, Michael Griffin (Fran); nieces, Margie Walton Garrison (Bobby), Mary Lisa Watts (Randy) and Katie Griffin Toney (Travis); and nephews, Ray Walton, Jr., Danny Walton (Stephanie) and Mike Griffin. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin Herbert Griffin, Jr. and Margaret Lawrence Griffin. Dorothy retired from Verizon Communications. She also operated a typesetting business for several years. She was a great help with Jim's business ventures. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy will be greatly missed. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ. She loved people and loved working with flowers in the summertime. Special thanks go to Dr. Jennifer Myers and Dr. Emma Fields with VCU Health, and Dr. Barbara Prillaman with Midlothian Family Practice.
Visitation services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Bliley's Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Signal Hill Memorial Park in Hanover County.
