My condolences to the family of Dr. Epps. He was my 1SG at USACHCS and my co-worker as a civilian. He motivated me to keep going to school when I wanted to quit. He helped me with Algebra, my worst subject. Dr. Epps had a wonderful soul. He will be missed. Thank you Dr. Epps for keeping it real. I thank God for your friendship. Enjoy your everlasting life in Heaven!!

: It saddens me to learn of the passing of SGM Edgar S. Epps, USASMA Class 35 Nonresident. Surely, each of us remembers a mentor or soldier who played a pivotal role in our development, someone who encouraged our interest in soldiering, or influenced the direction of our spiritual and military career. This Sergeant Major of Color has been such a leader. He embodied all the virtues and long held memories we keep in our hearts for those leaders who always made time for the eager minds of soldiers. It is incredibly difficult to attempt to capture the impact of a person's life in a few paragraphs, especially when that person lived the kind of life. However, God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be so He put His arms around you and whispered come to me. On April 13 13, 2021, God called him home and said it´s not far, just close by - Jesus is the Door. You remind us, Lord, through Solomon that to everything there is a season. We thank You for the earthly life You gave to this sergeant major and for the blessing during the sojourn here on the earth. We most especially thank You for the new life You granted this sergeant major in Jesus Christ. He broke the bonds of death by His resurrection. We rejoice at the hope of being reunited with him in the resurrection of all flesh. The NCO Corps thanks him for his selfless service act and his willingness to defend of America and all that we hold sacred.

Dr. Epps, ...Edgar. What a wonderful gentleman you are. I am so grateful that I got to spend many hours here with you at the U.S. Army Chaplain Center & School Library. I always looked forward to you coming in and sharing good conversation about life. You are one of the finest men that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I will be looking for you, over yonder, in the sweet by-and-by, when we meet on that beautiful shore. Seeing that smile of yours now...and missing you.
