H. Moseley Obituary

H. Daniel "Dan" Moseley, of Richmond, VA, passed away on March 1, 2024 with his children by his side. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Donna, Dan married Carolyn Poore and enjoyed life working on their farm.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marjorie, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Cameron(Bill), James(Michelle), Meredith(Matthew); his grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Luke, Megan, Mason, Mackenzie, Charlie, and Hudson; sisters Robin and Dale(Stony) and brothers Wayne and Lee(Alice).

Dan was a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School where he met Donna on a blind date. He then attended Emory and Henry College where he wrestled, played football, and, because he spent so much time there, served as the unofficial mascot at Salem Women's College, Donna's alma mater.

Dan was an extraordinary caregiver who stepped in as a father figure for his younger siblings when their father died far too young at age 46. He then turned into "220lbs of Gold" as his wife, Donna, would call him during her 13 year battle with cancer. Through those years, he taught all of those around him, especially his children, the importance of laughing through tears and the true meaning of love and devotion.

"Mr. Wonderful" as he was known, Dan loved camping, boating and fishing at the family's cabin on the the James River, doing yard work, and serving as a Boy Scout leader for many years. Always a presence on the sidelines at his childrens' games, he served as a constant reminder of the importance of hard work. While Donna's laughter was the spark, his quiet strength was the backbone of the family.

He remained selfless to the end and was immensely proud of his son James, a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel, thrilled that his daughter Cameron found happiness, married and working her own farm, and was (sometimes) entertained by his youngest daughter, Meredith, whose sole goal was to make him smile.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Monday, March 25th at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229. An Internment will immediately follow the service in the Church's Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boy Scout Troop 400, The No Greater Sacrifice Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

Wayne, I'm sorry for your loss. Apparently, Dan was your brother. We're not much younger.

God bless you.

I have so many fond memories of Dan - or "Q" as we called him at work. He was exactly as described - warm, caring, hardworking, with a great sense of humor. He did have a...quirk...? Dan was, apparently, unable to regularly wash out his coffee mug. He would use it and use it and use it, completely disregarding the gunk growing on the inside. From time to time, Connie and I would steal it and clorox it, a 'favor' he did not appreciate in the least. Godspeed, Q.
