She gave without asking, loved without condition, and lived with unshakable strength.

Jacqueline Elizabeth "Jackie" Crisp, 69, of Glen Allen, Virginia, went to the Lord on August 18, 2025, at Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on February 17, 1956, in Washington, D.C., Jackie grew up in Caroline County, Virginia, and graduated from Ladysmith High School. She went on to earn her nursing degree from Petersburg General Nursing School and dedicated 37 years of her career to Henrico Doctors' Hospital, where her compassion and strength left an enduring mark on colleagues and patients alike. Beyond her nursing, Jackie was also a gifted seamstress, creating clothing, wedding dresses, and handmade gifts, as well as sewing angel gowns for infants gone too soon – quiet acts of love that touched countless lives.

Jackie was defined by her service to others. She gave of herself freely and tirelessly, never seeking recognition or reward. She volunteered with the Ladysmith Rescue Squad in her early years, and later at Atlee Community Church, where she founded and led the Parish Nurse On-Call program and a chronic illness support group. Whether through her career, her community service, or her needle and thread, Jackie's life was a constant expression of care, resilience, and generosity.

Her strength was not just in what she gave, but in what she overcame. For nearly 50 years, Jackie battled chronic illness with stubborn determination, rarely letting her own suffering take priority over the needs of those around her. She faced life's obstacles head-on, from a difficult childhood to ongoing health struggles, and built a life of independence, purpose, and love.

She cherished time with her family, especially annual beach trips that became beloved traditions. Though she wasn't always nearby to witness every milestone, her grandchildren remained her greatest joy, and her love for them was deep and unwavering.

Jackie is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene Ralph Crisp; her children, Matthew Crisp and Amanda Crisp Marley with her son-in-love, James Glenn "Trae" Marley III; her grandchildren, Jace Marley (13), Ethan Crisp (12), Chandler Marley (12), Claire Crisp (10), and Liam Crisp (8); and her "bonus children," whom she loved as her own, Christi Sheffield, Kelly Crisp, and Brandon Snead. She also leaves behind her dear little dog Layla.

Her family and friends will remember her as selfless, strong, and fiercely loving – a woman whose presence changed lives, whose resilience inspired many, and whose legacy of generosity will endure.

Jackie's life will be honored with a casual, beach-themed celebration of life, reflecting her love for the ocean and her wish for joy and togetherness rather than formality. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or another cancer-related charity of choice. The family invites those who knew Jackie to share their memories, reflections, and stories so her legacy of love and strength may live on through the voices of others.
