James Avery Obituary

AVERY, James "Jamie" Gregory, 74, of Colonial Heights, Va., received his heavenly angel wings on Thursday, February 11, 2021. He was the son of the late Francis Hamilton Avery and Jacqueline "Jackie" Avery. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank "Frankie" Hamilton Avery. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Cannon Avery; children, Courtney Lynne White, James Brandon Avery and Leslie Morgan Jones; granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Fowler; sister, Pamela Lee Avery; brother, Scott Hamilton Avery; beloved fur-baby, Abby; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jamie served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a commercial sales representative from Sherwin Williams Paint Company. Jamie was a loving and dedicated husband, father, Paw Paw, brother and friend to all he knew. He was an avid Redskins fan, loved to travel, loved the beach and was an expert grill master and cook. He was a quick witted jokester who had a huge heart and brought a smile to everyone's face. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Colonial Heights SPCA. Condolences may be expressed at www.williamsfuneralhomeva.com.
