Janice Cromar

CROMAR, Janice, native of Richmond, died at age 82 on May 9, 2021, in Centerville, Ohio. She will be buried on May 14, 2021 at Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond, following a chapel service at the cemetery at 2 p.m. Born Janice Paige Cleaton, she was in the first graduating class at Douglas Freeman High School in 1956, and later received an associate's degree in Commercial Art and Advertising Design from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte. She had a career in graphic design, starting her own business in Charlotte, and then joined with her daughter in West Palm Beach, Fla. She and her husband were active in their local churches, among them, St. Giles' Presbyterian in Richmond, and the home church at her passing was South Dayton Presbyterian. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles R. Cromar Jr.; son, William, his wife, Maria Crespo Cromar and granddaughters, Cassie and Aly in Philadelphia; daughter, Paige Davis, her husband, Greg Davis and grandsons, Ryan Jones and Justin Jones of Centerville, Ohio; a brother, Jack Cleaton; sisters, Maya Johnson and Roxanne Sexauer; brother-in-law, Eugene Rilee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Richmond, Dinwiddie, Va. and Charlotte, N.C. She was preceded in death by her father, William Jackson Cleaton; her mother, Ruth Cleaton Sexauer; and her brother, Russell Cleaton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
