John Rhodes Obituary
September 4, 1942 - June 17, 2025
John Edgar Rhodes III, 82, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He was born on September 2, 1942, in Huntington, W.Va., to John Edgar Rhodes, Jr. and Sarah Francis (Brown) Rhodes. John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Evelyn Kay (Suzie) Rhodes; his sons, John Edgar Rhodes IV, John Christopher Rhodes and John Charles Rhodes; grandchildren, Seungji Han, Jihye Ann, Unhye, Evelyn, Leah Morgan, Lauren Mckenzie; great-grandchildren, Liam and Noah; and stepbrother, Eddie Delung.
John graduated from Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1960. Afterward, he continued his education at Marshall College, now Marshall University. John's career in construction began with building gas stations and then family homes around Huntington, W.Va. He was instrumental in fabricating industrial facilities around the world, working for companies such as Multicon Construction, Hill International, ABB, and Alstom before he retired. John was a proud member of the Corvette Club of Richmond Corvette, but was most proud when he married the love of his life, Evelyn Kay (Suzie), on Friday, May 2, 1980.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832 for John's memorial visitation. His memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor J.C. Moon officiating. Final rest will be private at a later date.

My condolences to the entire Rhodes family. I worked with John during the ABB/Alstom days. He was a friendly, happy person. Hope he is driving a Corvette against the skies.
