Kendall Baker Obituary

BAKER, Kendall Ann, passed away suddenly on February 26, 2022. She was born on March 14, 1989 and had a beautiful smile, a beautiful soul and a great, big, beautiful and tender heart. She loved ALL animals (even insects); she was particularly passionate about stray cats and dogs. She didn't like bugs in her house; however, she would never kill a bug, a spider or an ant. She would take them outside and release them. Kendall's love of animals was the basis of her choice to be a strict vegetarian.

She was an advocate for mental health care and a talented writer. She started her own blog and frequently wrote about eating disorders and treatment facilities. She also openly shared about depression and effective treatment. As a member of the recovery community, she knew and respected many friends that struggled with the disease of addiction.

Kendall was supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. She had close friends in the community and loved them dearly. She was very open about her disgust for bullying behaviors and always took up for the little guy or the underdog. She was a 2015 graduate of VCU with dual degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Work.

Everyone knew how passionately she loved her dog, Abbey, who she rescued in 2010. Kendall also loved her niece, Lily, and the nephew she was expecting in July, Jack. Kendall leaves her mother (Melissa); father (Ken); brother (Kyle); sister in-law (Katie); and her niece (Lily-bug) to cherish her memory. She had an extended family of grandparents (John and Arline Baker); aunts, uncles and cousins who appreciated her humor and her sweetness. Kendall was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents (Jack and Maggie Moore).

Kendall always preferred a small group to a big, loud party. In her honor, her memorial service will be private.

If you would like to honor Kendall's memory with a donation, the family suggests Richmond Animal Care and Control (Kendall liked them because they are accepting of all dogs; even those with behavior issues, old dogs, pit bulls and those that are severely injured).

Kendall was brave and kind beyond measure. Though we never met in person we were kindred spirits and fast internet friends. Kendall helped me more than words adequately express. I am forever grateful. Rest in peace, my dear.

Although it has been awhile since we saw you all last, we wanted you to know that we remember Kendall, fondly. Michael and Drew (when we told him this sad news) both shared stories of their confirmation trip with Reggie. Kendall was in Michael's car, and he recalled lots of discussion about music. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Michael and Melissa Radtke (Drew as well).
