Louis Fleming Obituary

Louis G. Fleming, of Glen Allen, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005. He was born in Bumpass, Va. on November 22, 1918 to Percy L. Fleming and Minnie Durvin Fleming. He was preceded in death by his sister, May F. Walsh, formerly of Fredericksburg; and his brother, James Fleming of Bumpass; and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Goodwin Fleming; two daughters, Judith F. Hawkins and her husband, Max, and Barbara F. Webber and her husband, William Slade; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Hawkins Keymont and her husband, John, Krista Bourne and her husband, Alexander, Leah Escobar and her husband, Maurico, and Lauren Douglas and her husband, Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Katelyn Bourne, Daniel Brooks and Dylan Escobar; a sister, Mattie Lee Harper of Ashland; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fleming was a member and deacon of Carmel Baptist Church, Ruther Glen. He was a former employee of Liggett & Myers, Retreat Hospital and Ukrop's of Ashland, and was well-known for his love of gardening. The family will receive friends at the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carmel Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Carmel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 52, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.
