Ike,
"You get out of life what you have the courage to ask for." As I browse through a few letters that you've mailed to me, I am particularly touched to see the small quotation attributed to your mother that accompanies every message. It reminds me that your mother has not only left an indelible mark on you but continues to teach and thrive THROUGH you. My deepest condolences are, of course, extended to you in this time of mourning, and I continually pray that you will find peace and comfort. In "Come, Ye Disconsolate," Thomas Moore rightly claims that "Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't heal." And through the tough times, remember that friends and family are here for you.

Ike,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this most difficult time. I too, have traveled the same road. May you find comfort in the scriptures--To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. If you need to talk, do not hesitate to call me.

Mary Edwards affectionately known to us as “Spunk”. It's comforting to me that you always knew how much you meant to me. I can sit here and see your face so clearly and hear your special laugh. What joy you brought to my family and to our lives! It was pre-destined that we would all meet and you would be a special part of us. You were my first mentor and like a second mom. I will truly miss you but the Heavens will rejoice at the addition of another “jewel”. Never will I forget you and always will I love you.
Thanks Keisha and Ike' for sharing your blessing with us.

Perhaps you may not remember me but I use to babysit you for your mother better known as "Sponk". My heartfelt condolences goes out to you and your family members. I am also known as "Fronnie"(Norma's sister).

Dear Keisha and Ike',
I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Please accept our deepest sympathy. I enjoyed working with her at Westover Hills Elementary School from 1979 to 1997.
She was a fantastic second grade teacher to Ericka. I loved to hang out with her in her classroom and to watch her with her bowling team after school. She was delightful to be around. I have many fond memories of her.
She was very proud of you both. Cherish her memory forever.
Love,
Sonia Hunt, Ericka Coleman, and Julian Booth

I will cherish the memories of Mary from the days at Pocahontas Public School here in Powhatan County and how we had a 7th grade talent show. I had a singing group in the show and Mary made our costumes out of crepe paper...She was Mrs. Frances then, but she was full of life and joy to be around. I am saddened to hear of her passing. My sympathy goes to the family and friends of this wonderful lady. Thank you Mary for being you...very straightforward and caring. Because of you, I learned how to be a lady.
