Mollie Weaver Obituary

WEAVER, Mollie Little Nelson, of Glen Allen, daughter of the late Alfred Ross and Annis Bowles Little, of High Point, N.C., died January 13, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, Hobart Ayres Weaver; daughter, Cynthia Ann Nelson; and her brothers, William James Little and Alfred Ross Little Jr. She is survived by her children, Hobart Ayres Weaver Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., Mary Weaver Essa (James) of Glen Allen and Robert Earl Weaver (Bianca) of Glen Allen; seven grandchildren, Derrick E. Weaver (Elizabeth) of Stuarts Draft, Jonathan A. Essa of New York, Jennifer A. Essa of Richmond, Hobart A. "Chase" Weaver of Orlando, Fla., GracieLee Weaver of Greensboro, N.C., Anna Mae Ritenour (Brett) of Tampa, Fla., Abby-Christine Elizabeth Weaver of Greensboro, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin M. Weaver, Cadence S. Weaver, both of Stuarts Draft and Calvin Ayres Ritenour of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Barbara K. Little of Green River, Wy.; and two nephews, Ross E. Little (Lisa) of Green River, Wy. and Russell J. Little of Wichita, Kan. After high school, Mrs. Weaver began her Western Electric career as a secretary. During the next 23 years, she held positions of increased responsibility and her last assignment was as a member of the team formed to move 1000 people from New York, N.Y. to Greensboro, N.C. During her career at Western Electric, she became a Certified Professional Secretary and a certified Administrative Manager. She also served as president of the Greensboro chapter of the National Secretaries Association and as president of the North Carolina Division of NSA. She was a founding member of the Word Processing Association, Richmond, Va. and was a member of the Administrative Management Association. In 1975, Mrs. Weaver enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Richmond, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1978. While in college, she became a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta and Eta Sigma Phi and won the EPPS award for scholarship. Mrs Weaver enrolled at Wake Forest University School of Law in 1979, graduating in December, 1981, with a Juris Doctor Degree. She became a member of the North Carolina State Bar in 1982 and a member of the Florida State Bar in 1983. She practiced law in both Florida and North Carolina and was listed in Who's Who in American Women. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 20, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., with the family to receive friends starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
