Robert Chinery Obituary

CHINERY, Robert (Bob) Keith, of Amelia, Virginia, passed away September 6, 2023 from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was the only child of Robert Ignatius Chinery and Alice Borrowes Chinery, who predeceased him. He was the widower of June Howell Chinery, his wife of 39 years. He was also predeceased by his business partner and friend, Timothy J. Taylor whom he loved as a son.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob attended public and parochial schools completing his formal education at the University of Pennsylvania. He had a passion for learning which never waned. Bob's interests ranged from nature, politics, business, sports, fishing, hunting, golf, and all spectator sports. He maintained a lifetime love of learning.

Bob served his country in the United States Army; he was a Mason, belonging to Masonic Lodge 101 Amelia Virginia. An extremely generous and caring man, he provided housing, transportation, and financial assistance to numerous people over the course of his lifetime. He was charitable at levels unknown to most and quietly and humbly did more than most will ever know. Bob supported organizations he felt worthy, donated generously to causes in his little Village of Amelia, Virginia because of their support for him and his company and many anonymously. He fostered and loved animals.

Bob's career spans several industries from law enforcement, to Regional Manager for the national company GAF Materials Corporation. Upon retiring from the corporate world, he moved to Amelia and became a small business owner, real estate developer, and private investor.

As his health began to change, his many close friends made it possible for him to continue with the things he loved the most, being on the Rappahannock River, and the Chesapeake Bay, and attending sporting events, taking cruises, travel, entertaining and enjoying weekends in Deltaville and Clarksville, Virginia.

Bob treated no one as a stranger. He never complained, seldom ever mentioned anything unpleasant and will be remembered as a very caring and giving person.

Bob had many friends during his lifetime but his special relationships with Davis Wilson, Lin Allen, Don Chappel, and Bill Hight were ones he held so dear.

Bob leaves his special friend; Dottie O'Neil Tinsley of Midlothian whose dedication to his care and comfort during the last stages of his illness never wavered.

For those who would like to remember Bob, please consider The Michael J. Fox Foundation to help find a cure for Parkinson's disease. P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741.

A private funeral was conducted with Military honors. Go with God dear soul, go with God.
