Dearest Grandma,

My heart breaks for you and your loss. Never have I seen a love so great than what I witnessed growing up with such wonderful granparents. I know you have plenty of loving memories as we all do and have been blessed with one of the most awesome men God created. We love you. God will comfort you and bless you.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with "RD" as we called him, for many years. He was an inspiration to many of us as younger officers. He had a great sense of fairness and never an unkind word. I think he was a fine officer...

May God be with you during this sad time.

Dear Family,

R.D. was a mentor of mine. As a rookie cop I was assigned to ride with him on numerous occasions. He didn't teach me how to be a policeman from a textbook but from years of attendance at the school of hard knocks. He taught me practical, commonsence strategies that made me a decent officer. I had a reasonable degree of success during my time with the Bureau and I often called R.D. for advice and counsel in making command decisions that affected the street cop. He shall forever be indelibly etched in my memory as one of those I owe any success I may have had to. May he rest in Peace from his labors for his works will follow him.

May God Bless and keep you. You should be proud of a life well lived.
