Stanley Magee Obituary

Stanley Earl Magee Jr., age 81, of Richmond, departed this life Wednesday, April 9, 2003. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Stanley grew up in Richmond and lived here all of his life. He owned and operated a business, S.E. Magee Painting and Decorating for more than 60 years. He worked in the business with his father who then worked for him. Stanley served his country during WWII in the Army Air Force, he was a 50 year member of the Order of Masons in the Lodge of Strict Observance, No. 207. He served as a deacon of Chamberlayne Baptist Church and later joined First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise Allman Magee; a son, Dennis Earl Magee of Newport News; two daughters, Patricia Magee Daly of Oakton, Va. and Catherine Louise Magee of Fairfax; one sister, Dorothy Magee Bell of Richmond; three grandchildren, Erin Kathleen and Bret Allman Magee and Alexander James Daly, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Dear Louise and Kathy,

I was so sorry to hear of Stan's passing. He was a wonderful man who brought joy and happiness into every room I ever shared with him. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to know him. I know that the love of friends and family will get you through this dark time but Stan will be missed greatly. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so very sorry to hear of your loss. I can understand the numbness you must feel and the void in your hearts. Please know that with the time the wonderful memories you have of Uncle Stanley will replace your pain and sadness. I am sorry that we will not be able to make the trip to Richmond.
