Wayne Hamrick Obituary
April 11, 1947 - May 8, 2025
Wayne E. Hamrick of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marvin and Anne Hamrick; son, Brian; brother, Marvin; and brother, Clyde. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Mark (Ali); daughter-in-law, Katherine; and four beloved grandsons, Nathan, Luke, Wyatt and Noah.
Wayne spent his entire 43 year professional career working at DuPont in Richmond, VA. He took pride in starting his career and working full time at DuPont while also attending and graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1974. When not working, Wayne could be found serving at Huguenot Road Baptist Church in various roles, volunteering to coach or keep score at his sons' sporting events, or in the driveway working on his rusty pickup truck.
After retirement, Wayne enjoyed traveling and vacationing with Janet. From family reunions in the Outer Banks of North Carolina to cruising to Alaska and Hawaii, Wayne continued to keep moving despite the physical challenges life dealt to him. In fact, for a long stretch of his retirement, he could often be seen working out at the Powhatan YMCA.
There will be a Celebration of life on May 19,2025 at 2 p.m. at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huguenot Road Baptist Church or the Nags Head Fire Department Beach Wheelchair program:

I was deeply saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. We went through most of elementary school together and were in the 1965 graduating class of Spotsylvania H.S. Wayne was a great all-around guy and will be missed by everyone. My sympathies and prayers are sent to his family.

Wayne was in my 1965 graduating class at Spotsylvania High School. He and Janet attended our 50th class reunion in 2015 and it was such a pleasure to see both of them. Rest in Peace, Wayne. Your work on earth is done.
