William James "Bill" Crichton III

CRICHTON, William "Bill" James III, Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend William "Bill" James Crichton III, 81, of Moseley, Va., let go of this life early Tuesday morning, January 31, 2023. Kind and gentle, Bill never met an animal that didn't love him. As a man he was assured but never prideful, rarely showed off but always showed up, unwavering but never rigid. He selflessly donated blood to the Red Cross as much as was allowed. Bill loved his family unconditionally, love which was reflected in his final weeks spent surrounded by loved ones and friends. Bill was a graduate of Petersburg High School, Richard Bland College and the University of Richmond. He spent successful career working in finance. He was a selfless mentor and role model for everyone in his life. We will miss him eternally, but he will remain with us forever. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darlene; children, Harlan (Diane), Andrew and Elisabeth (Oscar); grandchildren, Chris, Michelle, Ryan and Coulson; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda; and brother, Jim. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road, in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, our family would ask that donations go to the Red Cross and American Heart Association.
