Gene Tedrick, age 96, of Lynchburg, passed away on June 29, 2025, at Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center at Adams County Regional Medical Center.
He was born the son of the late Hollie and Norma Lucille Hawk Tedrick on April 6, 1929, in Hollowtown.
Gene was a man who found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He was known for his meticulous care of his yard. Gene took pride in a freshly mowed lawn and spent countless hours making sure every blade of grass was just right.
Gene had a lifelong passion for horses and horseback riding, and he cherished the peace and freedom that came with time spent on the trail. He also enjoyed camping.
One of his favorite pastimes was square dancing, an activity he loved sharing with his beloved wife, Barb. Together, they made countless memories twirling across the dance floor with friends.
Gene retired from Irwin Auger Bit after 48 years of service. Gene proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
Gene is survived by his wife of 73 years, Barbara Wilkey Tedrick; their children, John (Evelyn) Tedrick of Lynchburg, Ronald (Trudy) Tedrick of Lynchburg, Sherry (Jack) Hertenstein of Lynchburg, and Diana Puckett of San Antonio, TX; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Kay Stone; and brother-in-law, Donnie Wilkey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kari Jean Brooks, great-great-grandson, Carter Tedrick, sister, Iolene Buchreitz, mother and father-in-law, Alton and Fannie Bell Wilkey, and five brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Burial will follow with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard at Barnes Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Gene's name to Hospice of Hope, 215 Hughes Blvd, Mt Orab, Ohio 45154.
