Christine "Tine" Williams

March 9, 1917 - Nov. 25, 2005

Christine "Tine" Williams' homegoing on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, was in the comfort of her home with her loving family nearby.

Christine was baptized at an early age at the Old True Light Baptist Church in Farmhaven, Miss. In January 1936, she met and married John Williams and three daughters, Johnnie Lee, Edna and Fannie were born to this union. Christine and John moved their family from Farmhaven to New Orleans, La. in 1944. They united in fellowship at Mt. Rose Baptist Church and later with The Church of Full Gospel Ministries. They were a loving Christian family who worked hard to support and educate their children.

After the death of her husband John and two of her daughters, Christine moved to Vallejo, Calif. to live with her daughter Fannie and family in August 1995. Christine loved California; she met many loving friends who helped her transition from her home in New Orleans to her new home in Vallejo. In settling into her new home she united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Christine loved to travel and was accompanied by many of her friends and family on her trips.

Christine also loved to counsel her family in the ways of the Lord. Her favorite saying was, "The Lord sure has been good to me. You stick with Him because He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Christine leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Fannie Toomer; granddaughter Denise Benton; grandson Dennis Toomer; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Jeffrey Jr. and Justin Benton, and Nadia and Devin Nicole Toomer; one great-great-grandchild Jalishiell Bishop; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. quiet hour Thursday at Cooley & Riolo Mortuary, Inc., Vallejo. Funeral services will be noon Friday at Friendship Baptist Church, Vallejo with Pastor Joseph K. Flowers officiating. Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.
