HANOVER TWP. — Andrea E. "Candy" Abraham, of Hanover Township, passed away Feb. 11, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Madeline Abraham.
Andrea was a graduate of Meyers High School, class of 1962. She then went on to attend Wilkes College and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Nabisco Brands for 30 years and was previously employed by Fowler, Dick and Walker. She was also a member of St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Andrea had a passion for gardening, reading and dancing and a love for all animals, especially her beloved dog, Abby. She also enjoyed spending precious time with her sister, Osma, and her nephew, Ron, for his dedicated care and compassion during her time of need.
She is survived by her sister, Osma (Abraham) Lispi; and her precious Abby, which she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore/Wilkes-Barre and Dr. Grasso and his nurse, Dee, for the excellent care and compassion that Andrea received.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family from Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Wilkes-Barre.
Memorial donations may be made to Blue Chip Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612, Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA 18512, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I am so sorry to hear of Andrea's passing. We worked together at Nabisco and became friends. We sent each other birthday and Christmas cards every year for a long time. I was ill myself and lost touch. My sincere sympathy to her family. May she rest in peace. I will miss her dearly.
