Benjamin Belinka Obituary

B enjamin Belinka, of Jay Street, Swoyersville, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the Hospice VNA, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna Belinka. He was a member of the Holy Name/St. Mary’s Church, Swoyersville, and was recording secretary for the Holy Name Society for many years.
Prior to retirement, he was employed as a construction laborer with Union Local 215, working with the Sordoni Construction Company, Forty Fort. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 8th Armored Division in the European Theater.
He was a member of the CWV of Swoyersville; the American Legion Post 644, Swoyersville; Laborers Local 215; and was the chief umpire for the Swoyersville Little League for many years.
Surviving are his sons, Dr. Benjamin, New Jersey; and Joseph and his wife, Margie, Swoyersville; and sister Laura Stush, Huntington Mills.
Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Name/St. Mary’s Church, Swoyersville.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be conducted this evening.
