Jacqueline Nielsen Obituary

Mrs. Jacqueline Nielsen, 66, a resident of Bear Creek Township, died Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Mrs. Nielsen was born in Bear Creek Township, a daughter of the late John David and Marie Carlson Stout. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1961.
She and her husband of 30 years, Harvey C. Nielsen, who died in 1993, had operated H&J Transportation Co., Bear Creek Township, for more than 30 years.
She was a member of the Laurel Run Primitive Methodist Church, the former Queen Esther Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Kingston, the Bear Creek Women’s Club and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC.)
Jackie enjoyed western “cowgirl” culture and had made many trips to the southwestern United States. She had also been an avid model train enthusiast and decorated her home in both western and model train themes.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Harvey Karl Nielsen; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Lewis.
Surviving are sons, Karl H. Nielsen and his companion, Nancy Andrukitis, at home, John David Nielsen and his wife, Renie, Bear Creek; sister, Mrs. Betty Bath, Charles City, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 451 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. George P. Kropp, Pastor, Laurel Run, Primitive Methodist Church, Laurel Run; and the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Gilmore, retired Primitive Methodist minister, officiating.
Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations be made to Laurel Run Primitive Methodist Church, 3835 Laurel Run Rd., Wilkes-Barre 18702, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
