GLEN SUMMIT — Today we remember your life, your sense of adventure and many laughs we shared. Dr. Mark Anthony Gonsky, 64, a resident of Glen Summit since 1983, passed away in his home Jan. 10, 2017.
Dr. Gonsky attended St. Aloysius School. He graduated from Meyers High School and was a wide receiver on the Meyers football team. He received his BA degree in economics from King's College. Dr. Gonsky had it "in his heart" to become a physician. He went on to pre-med and finished from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His internship was completed at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. He was recognized for his amazing care, compassion and his outstanding diagnostic ability.
He began practicing medicine with Dr. Edward L. Kurello, D.O., at the Parkway Medical Center in Hanover Township. At that time he worked as an ER physician at Mercy Hospital Wilkes-Barre. He was on staff at Mercy Hospital, Hampton House, Birchwood Nursing Center and Nanticoke Hospital, among other facilities. He later opened Crestwood Family Practice in Mountain Top. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and American Osteopathic Association. He was much loved and admired by his patients.
His greatest love was for his boys, Mark Edward and Jonathan. Their adventures took them traveling, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking with their dogs and visiting "the lake" in Glen Summit often. He enjoyed golfing with his family at Wyoming Valley Country Club for many years. He had a sense of humor and stories to tell that will sadly be missed.
Dr. Gonsky was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. and Helen (Olshetski) Gonsky.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. Mark Edward Gonsky and his wife, Eirinn Ames, of Bend, Ore., and Jonathan Gonsky, of Kingston; grandchildren, Eddy Jay Gonsky and Owen Jackson Gonsky; brothers, Dr. Michael Gonsky, of Stroudsburg, Dr. Edward Gonsky, of Del Ray, Fla., Robert Gonsky, of Lumberton, N.C.; sister, Marie Gonsky, of Herndon, Va.; nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lizzy.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with Deacon Raymond Lenahan officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Mark would like you to know his work is done here. His new journey takes him to a wonderful place … a reunion with family and friends. There are no words to tell you, Mark, how much you were loved and respected. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near.
