Rosa Blackshear
Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, Rosa Lee Blackshear (Shorter) was called home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2021, following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Rosa passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was 86.
Rosa was born on May 18, 1934, in Cordele, Georgia to the late Mr. Jack Stubbs and Annie Lou Shorter. She was proceeded in death by her (parents) (6 siblings) Jack Green, Wilbert Johnson, Hazel Lawson, Willie Mae Hodges, Marvin Stubbs and Jackie Stubbs; (2) nephews Reginald Lawson and Alfred "Nubby" Lawson and a granddaughter Ynez Blackshear.
She is survived by her (2 children) son Walter "Joey" Blackshear of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter Dorothy Stubb Tabb of Aliquippa; (5 grandchildren) Torey Blackshear of Ambridge, PA, Autumn Stubbs of Freedom, PA, Ginnifer Stubb of Ambridge, PA, DaMonn and Antian Goehring of Washington, PA; (10 great grandchildren) Brittany Blackshear of Ambridge, PA, Victor and Oliver Blackshear of Seattle, WA, Carter, Kailah, Kandis, and "Nook" Caius Altvatter of Freedom, PA, Trinity Stubbs of Ambridge, PA, Aydin Goehring of Canonsburg, PA and McKenna Goehring of Washington, PA; a great great granddaughter Zariyah Blakshear of Seattle, WA; (3 sisters) Iola McMikens, Bernice Stubbs-Wright, Yvonne Stubbs-Childs all of Florida; nieces Marilyn (Kevin) Coley of GA and Tracy Lawson of VA; nephews Garry and Jerry Lawson of Ambridge, PA, Cory Lawson of Pittsburgh, PA, Shawn Lawson of Seattle, WA; and a host of other nieces and nephews. A cousin Dr. Antoinette (Toni) Shorter of NC and a close friend Laura Eaton of Ambridge, PA; and many other close friends and family.
Rosa spent many years as a compassionate caretaker for many families throughout the community. She was an avid cook, loved hosting dinners for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, watching soap operas, quilting and sewing. She had a green thumb for planting and growing anything. Family was the center of her life and she was honored to be the matriarch of our family. This loving, brave woman has left a permanent mark on our hearts and will forever be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a viewing at the Pitts Funeral Home, 920 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, Pa, Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM and a service on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
