Alvin Miller Obituary

Alvin R. Miller, 79, of 4526 State Rt. 39, Millersburg, died Friday peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born June 19, 1929, to the late Jacob and Sarah (Yoder) Miller.
His stepmother was the Late Lydia (Helmuth) Miller. He was a retired farmer and had worked at Dutch Valley Restaurant for 12 years. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He is survived by his wife Mattie A. (Beachy) Miller whom he married Oct. 16, 1952.
Also surviving are his children Mary (Paul) Raber of Sugarcreek, Alan (Cathy) Miller of Ragersville, Velma (David) Keim of Winesburg, Wade Miller of Trail, Myron Miller of Beach City, Norman Miller of Zanesville, Kathryn (James) Beachy of Berlin, Susan Troyer of New Philadelphia and Karen (Steve) Miller of Trail; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister Ella Schlabach of Berlin and a sister-in-law Fannie Miller of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter Sara Etta Miller, a brother Roman J. Miller and a sister Lizzie Ann Yoder.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Robert Schlabach Residence at 279 Smokey Ln. NW, Sugarcreek with Bishop Enos Troyer officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery in Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the Robert Schlabach Residence. Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
